F1 After Race Concert in 2009: Beyonce

on May 16, 2013

The date was October 29 of 2009. It was the first time I would be watching Formula 1 (F1) live. I am not a racing enthusiast. I don’t even drive. And I don’t even understand completely the rules of F1 racing but I got interested in it because of my cousin, Kuya Ton. Most of the time, I would see him watch the race on TV and I would just normally ask the team and driver’s name and who’s leading. For me, I only liked it mainly because it’s an interesting sports and at the same time some drivers are good looking. LOL.

Anyway, back in 2009, while I was still working in Abu Dhabi, UAE, F1 was held for the first time in the country and I made sure I see it live. I will not go into the race’s details here (it would be on a different blog). One of the best things after the race is its after race concerts. Because it was the first ever F1 in Abu Dhabi, all the performers for the after race concerts were really big. Beyonce was the first to perform.

Sasha Fierce 🙂

I have never seen Beyonce perform live. She went to perform in Manila (Philippines) back in 2007 and I heard that the ticket was very expensive. It was fortunate that all after race concerts were already included in the F1 3-day ticket I bought.

She sang almost every song that the public loves such as Single Ladies, If I Were A Boy (which I personally love), Ave Maria and so much more! She really is a total performer. I was even surprised that she was dressed the way she was, clad in a shining gold skin tight clothing material showing off her curves, in a Muslim country. I actually thought it would be an issue since prior to this concert, I read that she was not allowed to perform in Malaysia, another Muslim country, because of the way she dresses during her performances. Glad that UAE was not strict about it!

Me and my friends who watched the concert 🙂

Despite starting the concert late, it was totally forgivable with the way Beyonce performed. She was worth all the wait.

Below are more photos that my friend, Rowelle A., took during the concert.
