Trip to Hong Kong: Regal Oriental Hotel

on August 9, 2014

It was March 2011. It was my whole family’s first time to go out of the country. Flying at the time we were growing up was expensive then. But thanks to cheaper airfare and budget airlines like Cebu Pac nowadays, we are now able to fly without having to pay that much.

My sisters and I want our parents to experience travelling outside of the Philippines before they really get old and this was our chance. My sister, Kakie, was the one who planned and researched everything – from accommodations, airfare, budget for food, etc.

Our big plan was a trip to Hong Kong and Macau for exactly four days in total.

And so our journey began.

Our flight was in the evening We departed from Manila at 11pm and reached Hong Kong at 1am, Manila time. Hong Kong Airport was big and I honestly don’t know anymore how we got out of there. All I remember was how confused I felt just seeing how enormous the airport was and finding signs in Chinese. I have always been poor with directions (that’s why I don’t drive) so I’m just guessing now that I basically followed my younger sister where she was heading.

We hailed a cab, informed the non-English speaking driver where we were heading by also providing the hotel’s details, which can be found at the bottom of this blog ;). The driver called someone on his radio to ask about our hotel’s location, traveled for almost another hour until we reached the hotel.

We stayed at Regal Oriental Hotel. We reserved two rooms, one for our parents and another for me and my two sisters.

We were so exhausted, we just hit the sack immediately. Tomorrow will be a different story. 🙂
