Football stars and their supercars

Source: Arabian Business

A closer look at what some of the world’s best players drive.

Image

With FIFA World Cup around the corner, footballers from across the globe are heading to Brazil to put everything on the line for the pride of their nation. However, away from the field of play, none can deny that most of these football stars spare no expense on their super luxurious rides. Here we select one car from each of the high rollers’ collection and reveal their hefty price tags.

Image

Ronaldo – Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4
Officially recognised as the best player in the world currently, Ronaldo’s car exudes the same type of panache the footballer does with the ball at his feet.

Image

The Lamborghini Aventador is not a shy car with a lofty 700 Brake Horsepower (BHP) to help the vehicle reach a top speed of 217mph. The Ballon D’or winner’s car comes in a stealthy matte black to add that extra touch of understated style. However all this flash will set you back $ 450,000.

Image

Lionel Messi – Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale
A car befitting of a player held in the same regard as some of the greatest of all time. When needing to get from A to B, Messi uses a his Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale.

Image

His vehicle comes in a clean looking white, reaches a top speed of 188mph and costs upwards of $181,000. Certainly a worthy drive for the only man who can stand toe-to-toe with Ronaldo in the world of football.

Image

Wayne Rooney – Aston Martin Vanquish
For the talismanic Englishman it is fitting to choose a car that is British. The Aston Martin Vanquish is a car which expresses the same class on the road that Rooney does on the field.

Image

This car set Rooney back a fair amount, costing a total of $ 280,000. However, with a top speed of 183mph and a booming engine of 565 BHP it is the perfect car for a superstar.

Image

Samuel Eto’o – Maybach 57 S Xanatec Coupe
At a time Eto’o was the highest paid player in the world. He is said to have a fleet of cars costing an astonishing $6,700,000.

Image

Of his collection the car that stands out the most is his Maybach Xanantec Coupe. It costs over $1m and has a huge presence on the road, similar to that of the Cameroonian captain’s on the pitch.

Image

Franck Ribery – Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder
Ribery, referred to as ‘the jewel of French football’ by the legendary Zinedine Zidane will once again be the focal point of France’s bid for World Cup glory.

Image

Ribery’s glory on the road is in the form of his Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder. Able to reach 201mph and costing $225,000, his ride comes in an eye catching bright green so he is never out of the spotlight.

Image

Neymar – Audi R8 GT
The man with the weight of a nation on his shoulders and the face of the Brazil World Cup. The talented forward chooses to cruise the roads in the Audi R8 GT.

Image

Costing nearly $250,000, it reaches top speeds of nearly 200mph. Neymar has decided to keep the design simple and sleek in a bright white paint job and a classical red leather upholstery interior.

New Lamborghini Huracán unveiled

Latest model will make its world public debut at the Geneva Motorshow 2014.

Image

With a total volume of 14,022 cars produced, the Lamborghini Gallardo has been the most successful Lamborghini ever. Now, Lamborghini introduces its successor, the new Huracán, which has been developed from scratch at the Automobili Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese on an entirely newly-equipped production line.

Image

Like the Gallardo, the name is derived from the world of bullfighting. The fighting bull Huracán of the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed was known for his outstanding courage and strong sense of attack. The Lamborghini Huracán will make its world public debut at the Geneva Motorshow 2014.

Image

With a dry weight of 1,422 kg it enables not only the excellent power-to-weight ratio of just 2.33 kg per horse power, but also guarantees race-car precision with outstanding stiffness. The new 5.2 litre V10 engine delivers a maximum power of 448 kW / 610 HP at 8,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 560 Nm at 6.500 rpm.

Image

The Huracán delivers top speed of over 325 km/h and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and to 200 km/h in 9.9 seconds. The power of the V10 engine is brought to the road via the new 7-speed dual clutch transmission ‘‘Lamborghini Doppia Frizione’’ (LDF) and fully electronically controlled four-wheel drive system.

Image

Starting from January 2014 the Huracán will be the protagonist of over 130 private preview events in more than 60 cities throughout the world. Private preview events will be held for qualified prospects only and delivery to the first customers is planned for spring 2014.

Image

The AURUMANIA gold bike crystal edition is hand built, plated with 24 carat gold and studded with more than 600 genuine Swarovski crystals, with a price of $92,000.

Image

Limited to ten units, the first bike in the series has already been sold to a customer in London – a man who chose to use it as decoration for one of the walls in his home.

Image

The handlebar grips are made of hand-sewn, chocolate-brown leather and a moulded Brooks leather saddle provides the right nostalgic touch.

Image

The AURUMANIA logo appears on the crossbar using Swarovski crystals, and a limited-edition number embossed with gold leaf and set into a leather badge, placed prominently on the front of the bike.

Image

The name AURUMANIA means “pre-occupied with gold”, and the Scandinavian company’s self proclaimed purpose is to design extravagant luxury items made solely of gold for the client who cannot get enough of this precious metal.

Image

The company also designed a special mount for this bike-also made of 24-carat gold-used to highlight the bike as a work of art. Both items are delivered to the buyer personally using a ‘White Glove Service’ anywhere around the world.
